Vennie Palmer

Vennie PalmerVencott "Vennie" Palmer is an educator, instructional designer, musician, producer and audio engineer. Born in Miami, FL, he considers Northeast Ohio his true home. Palmer grew up in Euclid, OH where he graduated high school as a member of the band and choir. He went on to earn a bachelor of arts in business administration from Baldwin Wallace University in 2004.

After graduating, he describes himself as lost and lacking purpose. He produced recording projects for many different local Cleveland area and national recording artists, including Howard Hewitt. However, he felt something was missing. After marrying his wife of 14 years, Jennifer, and fathering his two daughters Miah and Skyler, he decided it was time for a change.

In 2012, Palmer enrolled in the recording arts and technology (RAT) program at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C). This decision would serve as the turning point of his life. During his time in the RAT program, he met many of Cleveland’s finest audio engineers, musicians and venue owners. But, one of his most significant experiences at Tri-C was his time working as an intern in the Student Production Office where he learned principles of film making, post-production and audio for film.

Upon graduating from the RAT program in 2016, Palmer accepted the position of Teacher of Exploratory Recording Arts at Cleveland High School for Digital Arts (CHSDA). His time at CHSDA not only taught him how to be an educator, but how to care deeply. He says that as a teacher his most gratifying moments are hearing the sound “OHHH”. That’s the moment when students “get it”.

In August of 2021, Palmer furthered his education by earning a master of science in instructional design and technology from Full Sail University. He credits his success at Full Sail to the foundation he received as a student at Tri-C. Recently, Palmer accepted the role of program manager for RAT and Film and Media Arts at Tri-C, serving alongside and supporting the instructors and providing leadership to the program that helped him unlock his purpose and calling is the honor of his life.
